Developed by owner and operator of Core Restore, Christopher Verdi, the CRTS™ (Core Restore Training System) is a patented system for muscle movement training. Traditional exercise methods evaluate a client’s progress by assessing whether or not the client can perform certain exercises, poses, or positions. CRTS™ is different because it prepares the client’s body for motion by focusing on muscle contraction and muscle awareness to improve range of motion.
It is imperative that people are taught how their body works mechanically, as well as how to engage their muscles in order to initiate movement. When clients experience the sensation of proper muscle function in movement through CRTS, they are gaining this very specific self-awareness and knowledge. CRTS™ thus serves to complement and improve performance in clients’ existing exercise practices by improving their basic ability to move properly. Chris is a muscle and movement specialist, and CRTS™ adds movement as a critical foundation to the prevailing fitness model.

Why are the Mechanical Muscle pulleys so unique?
The Mechanical Muscles are the pulleys that provide resistance in CTRS™. Traditional pulleys used in the exercise world are designed to recruit the most motor units possible during the exercise. Larger loads/higher resistances require the body to recruit more motor units to perform exercise, as well as call upon more muscle groups to control the load. As opposed to overloading the system and forcing the body to compensate by recruiting the wrong muscle groups, the Mechanical Muscle pulley uses a small load (one pound) to isolate the smallest number of motor units in order to improve sensitivity. Improved sensitivity allows the muscles to re-train fibers, thus resulting in use of the minimum amount of force to focus recruitment in handling a given load.
CRTS™ Method
CRTS™ evaluates progress in terms of the user’s ability to properly engage his or her muscles to achieve motion. We focus on creating a baseline of stability using proper reinforcement and teaching the user to feel various muscle contractions. This process provides consistent reinforcement to isolate each motion. In other words, the method used by our Core Restore staff is designed to re-teach the body (and the client) how to engage the right muscles for the right movements. The end result is an increased understanding of how the body is moving. This mindful awareness then translates into a person’s exercise practices and daily activities, enhancing performance and safeguarding against injury.
